What's been happening at the Dental Team of Sumter?

Recently, our team was asked: "So, what's new at the office?" Well, Dr. Vincent recently finished a two-year mentorship program with Dr. Gordon Christensen at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry, as well as a course in cosmetic dentistry with Dr. Frank Spear. They are the premier educators in dentistry today. Dr. Lee is getting ready to fly to Ecuador on a mission trip with about 70 others. They will be in Quito for a week running two dental clinics.

In other news, this week marked Stacy's (one of our assistants) one-year year anniversary with The Dental Team of Sumter. She has been such a pleasure to have around and a great addition to our team. Her energy and joy is never ending and she never seems to have a bad day. We are all blessed to have the opportunity to work with her.

Getting social with Dental Team of Sumter

At the Dental Team of Sumter, we embrace technology, whether it’s through the innovative orthodontic treatments we offer, our high-tech web site or our Facebook fan page. We love connecting with our patients online, whether it’s by sharing news on our blog or communicating ideas on our fan page. For social media to work, conversation is absolutely vital, and that’s why we invite you to join in and tell us what’s on your mind. Although social networks are hugely popular these days, we know they’re unpredictable and ever-changing.

While Drs. Capers Lee and Vincent and our professional team take a little time to research how to best use social media, we thought we’d ask you, our loyal patients: How would you like us to use our social networks? What would you like us to share on our blog? Send us your thoughts or give us a call!

Ask Drs. Vincent and Lee: Who benefits from Invisalign®?

Part of what makes Invisalign "work" is that it's customized for pretty much anyone. To find out if you are the right candidate for Invisalign treatment, the first thing Drs. Vincent and Lee do is take an impression of your teeth as they are now and digitize it. Using special software, we look at the current positioning of your teeth and compare it to the way your teeth should look.

Next we use special software to map out the exact path your teeth will take from the beginning of your treatment to the end. Based on the results, a set of custom aligners are created just for your teeth. Throughout the course of treatment, you will be required to wear these clear, removable aligners one at a time; each one moving your teeth closer and closer to their final, perfectly aligned position. And since the aligners are virtually invisible, nobody around you will even know you are wearing braces!

Drs. Vincent and Lee are certified Invisalign providers. If you have questions about Invisalign, or would like to find out if you are a candidate for Invisalign treatment at The Dental Team of Sumter, please give us a call.
